Tigger - Fun and games

Regulars followers of the blog will remember Tigger. He was a resident cat here at the centre for only a few weeks then he was adopted. A lovely couple who have had many cats from us in the past, including a twenty-one year old offered him a new home. So off he went, bags packed and all! Here is the latest update on Tigger and his new family.

Dear all at Cats Protection,

Just a message to tell you all about our fun and games on Saturday, needless to say about Tigger. We got up, I let dog and other cats out, before feeding everyone. I then fixed the cat flap so it couldn't be used.  I had given Tigger his food and left the door open from room where he was. I also opened the window in there, all of about half an inch. Then we sat down to have coffee and toast.

Next we hear a bang. That's right, a certain someone had pushed the window open and jumped out. So I down everything and go into the garden, no sign. I then find him wandering around just past the greenhouse, call him and he comes to me. He follows me in, at least until we got to the shed, it was then decided I'm going back where I came from. I came on in and after about 30mins. no sign, so Shaun goes off to look for him.

After what seemed like ages, Shaun came in, took the harness and lead, said Tigger had somehow got into the field at the very bottom of the garden and didn't seem to know how to get back. Shaun walked along the road, down the track and into the field, put the lead on Tigger, lifted him over the fence, then tied him to a tree, so he could come back himself along the road. When he got him in, Tigger just crashed.

Pleased to say though that he's been out a lot since, but stayed in the garden and every so often comes in to see me. At night though, or if I've gone out, then I shut him in. I'll do that until next week, when I'm certain he's alright. All good fun in this house.

 Love, Sandy.   xxx

Tigger - New resident

Walkies with Stacey!

Our latest resident cat Tigger has been exploring his new surroundings this week.
Cat Carer Stacey has been taking him out for walkies on a lead around the centre.
On Wednesday when the weather permitted Tigger explored the garden with Stacey
in tow!

He really loved getting his nose into everything and has a real spring in his step.
Its lovely to see him so happy. Soon he will be able to explore without supervision,
we are confident that he is going to fit in very well here. He isn't at all bothered by fellow residents Tiddles and Purdy. In fact Purdy was feeling a bit put out the
other day. Tigger waltzed right up to her and he startled her so she hissed at him.
In time they will all get used to one another.

We will continue to keep you updated on how Tigger has settled in here.

Tigger

Our latest resident

This week we made the decision to make Tigger our 18 year old our newest resident. Poor old Tigger had been sitting in his pen for months becoming more and more depressed. Since letting him out in the Managers office he seems so much happier. He comes and greets you with meows and purrs and looks so much more content.

It just goes to show what a bit of freedom and a few home comforts can do. We have made it as cosy as possible for him in the office. He has a large scratching post, several places to sleep and a few laps as well!

We really hope that Tigger will be happy here. We will keep you all updated on how Tigger is doing. We will try and get some photos of him too!

Older cats

Age is just a number

Take a look at our new video, find it in your heart to give an older cat a chance of happiness. All of the cats featured have not been reserved yet. People are often put off by their age, but what is age but a number? These cats are some of the most loving that we have here at our centre. So please we urge you to come up and meet them. We challenge you not to feel sad when you watch this video. It can be very depressing for us seeing the same cats sat in their white boxes day in day out whilst others come in and go out in a flash. So now let the cats tell their story...
